Waikato District Council is asking for feedback regarding the future of the monthly recycling drop-off day at Glen Murray.
Due to the results of a recent consultation in the Pukekawa and Onewhero areas regarding a weekly kerbside refuse and recycling service, we are reviewing the current monthly recycling drop-off days at Glen Murray and Onewhero.
Following that consultation, Pukekawa and most of the Onewhero area now receives a weekly kerbside collection, so Council has decided to discontinue the monthly recycling drop-off day at the Onewhero rugby club.
In saying that, we still invite any of those rural residents who may still be using this service to engage in feedback regarding Glen Murray’s drop-off day as set out below.
Council wants to consult with the community to find out if the Glen Murray monthly recycling drop-off day should continue to operate and if there is sufficient support to ensure its viability.
The following two options are set out below. The option that receives the most support from respondents is the service that will be provided.
A monthly drop-off service of recyclable materials only (glass, plastic – types 1, 2 and 5 only, paper, card, tins and cans). This would be collected from Glen Murray Hall, Highway 22 on the first Saturday of every month from 8.30am to 12.30pm; as is the current situation.
The cost of this service would be an annual targeted rate– this would be $57.27 from July 2018.
No service. The current service would cease following the close of the consultation with two months’ notice.
What happens next?
You need to choose whether you want Option 1 or Option 2. Don’t forget, whichever option that receives the majority of support from respondents will be the service provided. If option one is chosen, this will be rated from the 2018/19 year.
There is no status quo option, so it is important that you take this opportunity to have your say.
Consultation closed at 5pm on 25 August.
